The true and authentic Buschenschank is only found in the Steiermark. Like the Styrian pumpkin seed oil and the fried chicken, it is a feature of the Styrian quality of life and hospitality that has no equal. The approximately 800 Buschenschanken are equally popular with the Styrians themselves and visitors to the Steiermark, often located in the most beautiful locations in the three winegrowing regions.
There is a magnificent sunset, an awesomely steep vineyard, the romantic-looking view over forests and hills to the neighbouring village. A unique ambience for mostly home-prepared meals, often even from farm-raised meat, accompanied by home-baked bread.
The fact that the wine from their own production finds happy customers is a welcome side effect.
In the Buschenschank,
the human factor is accentuated.
Like the Klapotetz – the wooden pinwheel that frightens off birds wanting to feast in the vineyards – the Buschenschank is now indispensable to the Styrian landscape.
