IWSC 2025 – Global Wine Judging Austria @ Styria

From 28. to 31. May 2025 the IWSC Global Wine Judging Austria is coming to STEIERMARK.

Following two successful years of judging in Austria, we are delighted that the IWSC will be returning to STEIERMARK – Styria for their third Global Judging event.

Styria is the ideal host region for the Global Judging Austria of the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC). As one of Europe’s most exciting wine regions, it captivates with its unique terroir, outstanding wine quality, and a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. International jurors can look forward not only to award-winning wines – particularly Sauvignon Blanc, Gelber Muskateller, and Welschriesling – but also to an exceptional culinary culture, warm hospitality, and breathtaking vineyard landscapes. The combination of excellent quality, inspiring gastronomy, and modern winemaking makes Styria the perfect venue for this prestigious wine competition.

The IWSC 2025 Wine Judging in Austria, in partnership with the Austrian Wine, will take place on 28 – 31 May 2025. They will be bringing to Styria a stellar team of industry experts, including Master of Wine & Judging Committee member Dirceu Vianna Junior who will oversee the tasting. More international judges representing both on-trade and off-trade sectors will be announced soon.

The 2024 Austrian Judging saw over 350 entries and more than 340 medals medals awarded. The IWSC judges were deeply impressed with the quality of entries, stating that Austrian wines showed “consistent excellence and strong varietal typicity.” With the IWSC often compared to the Olympics of the wine world, “it is very rare in this (demanding) competition that almost all wines come away with a medal, which are all sought-after whether they are bronze, silver or gold,” said experts.
